1. Forever Young Club unveils new look!

It’s Spring and what better time for some sprucing up of the FYC site?

After much tweaking, exploring and testing, we have launched a new home page boasting a whole gamut of features! From news feeds and daily horoscopes to weather forecasts and polls, the new and improved home page will see more interactive features and current information.

After checking out the latest news on the site you may want to scroll to FYCs special interest forums to voice your opinion or simply spark a new discussion with just about any topic that comes to mind. The latest additions to our forums will be updated instantly so you can easily see who has added comments to forums recently.

The FYC team thinks that the new home page design is much easier to navigate and adds a lot of new function and relevance to the site. But what do you think? Give us your feedback because it’s the only way we can shape the best over 50’s lifestyle portal for you. We welcome you to email your comments to sandy@forever-young-club.com.au and hope you continue to enjoy the new site!

Don’t forget that 40% of members will ‘send a flirt’ only after viewing a profile with a picture! If you want to increase your number of profile views and boost your chances of meeting more friends on the site, there’s no better way to do it than to post a picture on your profile!

And if you needed more reason to post a photo, we will select the best male and best female photo and give away two Logitech webcams to the lucky winners for each month. All photos will be considered but if you would like to submit your photo for the judge’s review please email advertising@forever-young-club.com.au with your username.

5. Meeting someone in your postcode

Here at Forever Young Club, we are always working to make your search for friends much easier without having to trawl through every profile. After much testing, we have now introduced the new radius tool which we think you may find particularly handy!

In addition to entering criteria such as age, interests and personality traits, you can now search for other FYC members in your post code! Simply click on to the member search page, enter your postcode in the request field and select the preferred radius distance (5km, 10km etc) from the drop down menu below. And who knows? You may be pleasantly surprised at what the search may turn up!

We look forward to launching continual improvements on the site in the next few weeks, so keep an eye for further Forever Young Club developments!

6. Call for participants in research study

Forever Young Club has been approached to assist in a research program on older adults and online romances.

The study conducted by doctoral student Sue Malta of Swinburne University is currently looking for mature Australians to be part of the research. Particularly interested in the views of people aged 60 years or over, the study will seek to gather data from those who are currently in or who have recently been involved in a romance that started online.

Sue has surveyed people aged 61 to 86 and believes people around this age bracket are often left out in research regarding the Internet and romance. Sue said the indications from preliminary results were that older adults actively engaged in loving, romantic Internet-initiated relationships clearly reflected those of the younger generation.

If you are interested in being part of this research, please contact Dr Sue Malta smalta@swin,edu,au. Swinburne University has assured that all responses will be kept in strict confidence and names and identifying information will be changed to protect the respondent’s privacy.

We think this would be a worthwhile study, and look forward to keeping you informed when the results are posted.
